John Denver, a singer-songwriter who hails from Colorado that specialized in folk-pop music touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have been a major influence on many to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, said: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the very first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado to the people all over. When I travel, I always meet someone from the other end of the planet, one who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 hits after performing with smaller folk groups. The song was written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the tune, however Denver recognized that the song could become a smash hit when the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded by the singer only a few days afterward after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans on the streets of Washington D.C.
